Kings Walk Spinney was purchased in 1969 from the Ministry of Transport by Kirby Muxloe Parish Council and then transferred to Leicester Forest East Parish Council in 1986 when the parish council was formed.

Since that time it has been a conservation area.

In 2003 (June) an evaluation of the wildlife/habitat was carried out by a local conservationist who determined the flora and fauna to be found in the Spinney.

In 2004 pupils from Holmfield and Stafford Leys Primary School helped plant daffodil bulbs in the Spinney.

Two years ago BTCV installed a footpath in the Spinney. In January of this year the footpath was topped up with bark and repairs carried out to the edgings.

It would be nice to see more bird/bat boxes put into place in the Spinney.
